Power League

Kate's team is a part of Power League! The U15's are the only team this year to join. Based on everything I've heard from you readers, this is a good move. I'm pretty happy. It means better competition and a chance for Kate to see the best teams in the region at least 4 times. Excellent news!

  1. Hello Club Volleyball Dad. I have found your blog extremley interesting, as my daughter also plays club vball in the Puget Sound region. It's a fun sport to watch and coach, don't you think? Does Kate play for her school volleyball team? I was wondering that because lots of high school season's are already over...

    Have a nice weekend! :-)

  2. Kate is in the 9th grade in a Junior High so their season starts in January. Not sure why they don't have the season in September like the high schools...but then again, the school district does many things that are a mystery to me!

  3. Nevillizms just sent an email posting some camps the week of December 14. There are several different kinds. They aren't posted on the website (or at least I didn't see them), but here are the details:

    Monday, December 14th - Setting/Hitting - Beginner/Intermediate
    Setters - 8 players maximum
    Hitters - 16 players maximum
    5:00 - 8:00 pm
    $75 per player
Setters - The setter plays a huge role in every game. This clinic will not only focus on the technical skill of over head passing, but the tactical skill of setting. We will work with setters on how to run an offense, leadership, and the keys to over head passing. We will have a focus on in system and out of system setting while working on basic sets (Hut, Quick, Red.)

Hitters - All hitting positions welcome! Middles, outsides, opposites. We will work on specific roles of each position, starting with the technical skills of hitting and blocking. Outsides will work on some serve receive passing and hitting the Hut, and Hut GO! Middles and opposites will work together on play sets. All hitters will be working against a team of blockers, and each player will get a chance to work on both hitting and blocking.

We will start by working with the setters and hitters individually and then combine both groups to work together.

    Tuesday, December 15th - First Ball Contact - Beginner/Intermediate
    Maximum 24 players
    5:00 - 8:00 pm
    $75 per player
The first ball contact may be the most crucial of the game; it is also the most forgotten unless it's the terminal contact (when a passer is aced for example.) It is however the most important thing when putting together a team. Great passers will see a lot of court time because without the first contact there is no setting or hitting. Our focuses will be on serve receive and free ball passing as well as digging and down balls.

Wednesday, December 16th - Serving - All Ages Welcome
    5:30 - 6:30 pm; Maximum 24 players; $30 per player
    7:00 - 8:00 pm; Maximum 24 players; $30 per player
The skill of serving may be the most unique skill in the game of volleyball. The server has complete control over the ball. Great servers aren't left on the bench because a great serve leads to points. These clinics will focus on the keys to serving, the serving checklist and serving strategies, along with the different types of serves (Standing Float, Jump Float and Jump Spin.)

All clinics are held at Nevillizms Volleyball Gym, 13434 NE 16th Street, Suite 150, Bellevue

www.nevillizms.com. You need to email ashley@nevillizms.com to sign up. You can also sign up for the newsletter on their website and you will get announcements of other opportunities at Nevillizms.

It might be worth looking into if it doesn't conflict with your DD's club practice.

    Good luck
